How does the treatment feel?
Some people feel a tingling sensation when the fruit acid peel is applied, which subsides quickly. The IPL stage of the treatment can sometime be mildly uncomfortable but is well tolerated, often described as feeling like a "quick pinprick" or "the flick of an elastic band".
Is there any downtime?
The illumiFacial is a non-invasive treatment, and uses safe, medical-grade equipment to minimise side effects. Following treatment you may experience some slight tingling and redness, which will subside quickly. Some slight swelling may occur for up to a few days. Pigmentation may darken before flaking away. Redness and thread veins may also darken before disappearing, and you may experience some temporary bruising. You may have some areas of dry skin, and in very rare cases a small blister can form which may cause some temporary lightening or darkening of the skin. However, most people experience no side effects, and any reactions usually disappear within a few hours, leaving the skin feeling and looking radiant.
What should I expect after treatment?
As well as clearer skin, an ongoing improvement to the firmness and plumpness to the skin will be experienced in the months following the treatment as new collagen is stimulated deep within the skin. A single treatment will show improvement. However, a course of treatments is recommended for optimum results.
